Alice sat on the toilet, staring at the stupid piece of plastic in her hand, a pregnancy test. She had been trying a test once a week every week since the toxin had taken effect. This was her fifth week as a 'mutant' vampire. Jasper was usually somewhere near her while she was taking the test. Then he was pacing back and forth in their bedroom while Alice was in the bathroom or sitting on their bed, waiting for the test results to show up.
Alice glanced up at the digital clock on th counter to see how long it has been. She had to wait five minutes for the results to show. How long has it been now? She had taken the test at 7:23PM. It was now 7:30PM. It had been seven minutes already? She took a deep breathe before looking down at the pregnancy test. There was a plus in the window. A plus?! Positive? She was pregnant?!
Alice stood up and walked into the bedroom, hoping Jasper was still there. He wasn't there. Where had he gone? She could have sworn she had heard him pacing in here a few seconds ago. "Jazz, are you here?" Alice called out anxiously.
If he was on this floor or even on the second floor, he would hear her calling him. She got no answer. She decided to go downstairs and as Brittany or Brad if they had seen their father. Alice was starting to get really anxious now. Alice went downstairs to the second floor.
She saw Brittany's door was only slightly closed. Alice decided to check with her first on Jasper's whereabouts. "Hi, sweetie. Have you seen your father?" Alice asked. Brittany was laying on her bed doing her homework. Alice sat on the bed next to her, one hand on her hip, the other on her lower abdomen.
"Well, I just took another test just now. It came out positive. I'm pregnant. You're going to have a baby brother or sister nine months from now. Is that exciting? Now I have to find where your dad is," Alice told her daughter, smiling at her. [/blockquote]

“My beginning was something else entirely.” Jasper had grown tired of pacing. He’d grown tired of these silly little tests as well. Every time Alice took one he’d nervously wait for the response, not sure whether to be disappointed or relieved when each had come back negative. Why she took them was beyond him, after all she could just look forward as see. No, she’d said she wanted as ‘normal’ a pregnancy as possible. That meant no looking forward. He glanced at the bathroom door then left the room, heading to the kitchen. He made his way silently down the stairs and turned at the bottom.
The kitchen wasn’t empty as he’d expected. Instead his son Brad was sitting at the kitchen table, in front of him was a book. Jasper recognised it as the novel they were reading in English. Of course Brad would know Jasper was there but that didn’t stop Jasper from sitting at the table across from him. He drummed his fingers on the table, remaining silent. Of course he knew that Brad wouldn’t allow the silence to last long, that was just Brad for you. Jasper blinked out the window as he realised something. Alice had told Brittany that she was trying to get pregnant but it had been up to him to tell Brad… And he’d forgotten. He knew there was only a moment left before Brad would speak.
“Having fun?” Jasper asked, though he could feel the boredom radiating from Brad. He turned his gaze to the brunette then blinked as he felt a swell of excitement and happiness from elsewhere in the house. He was sure it was Alice, he always was a little more attuned to her than the rest of the family. His stomach gave a little flip of nervousness. The happiness she was feeling would mean only one thing. “Brad… Finish that chapter… Then come find me and Alice…We…Uh…Need to talk.” He said bluntly, standing up. He turned and swept out of the kitchen, toward where he thought Alice was.
As he’d suspected he could hear her voice from Brittany’s room. He paused down the hall composing himself. If she was pregnant he’d have to deal with it. After all, he was doing this for Alice. It was what she wanted and he would do it for her. He rubbed his temples and sighed. Once he was sure he could handle it he strode to the door and poked his head through the door. “Alice?” He asked after sending his daughter a slight smile.

Alice looked up and smiled at Jasper as he entered the room. "Hey, Jazz!" she said as she stood up. Alice ran into his arms. She was so excited. She was pretty sure he knew what she was going to tell him since he could tell what her emotions were at the moment. She just stood there a moment, happy just to be near him now. This was so excited! She and Jasper were going to have a blood child of their own in nine months' time. Alice could hardly wait for it.
"So, I guess you figured it out already, huh?" Alice murmured. It wasn't that she wasn't happy he knew, she was annoyed that his talent ruined the surprise of a few special things like this. Oh, well, they all knew now except Brad and the rest of the family. That would be a disaster waiting to happen when they told the others the news.

~Take a breath, I pull myself together, Just another step, Until I reach the door… Brad yawned, almost dislocating his jaw. Boredom was much too kind for the exhaustion that he was feeling right now. He looked up at his father, his eyes an angry onyx knowing that he'd have to hunt soon... He stared at the fork that he held in his hand, his mind slowly counting down the seconds until he’d talk. His father asked him if he was having fun, and Brad merely smirked, watching as the toaster moved from counter to counter. It was his kind of fun, moving things with his mind. Three, two… he bent the fork, his eyes opening widely before he fixed it and grinned. One. “Dad, have you ever tried to play Twister in an elevator?” he asked suddenly, changing the atmosphere around his and placing the fork on the table. He knew that he should probably have gotten on with his homework, but he had all night to work on it. He shook his head, grin growing as the fork twitched on the table. He moved his pointer finger, and watched as the fork danced for him. “Maybe we should – ” he was cut off by his father speaking again, and Brad watched as his father got up and walked away. Brad looked down at the book, as if just seeing it. After a brief staring contest with the book, Brad got to his feet and walked away. Screw English. He could just do it later. He walked into Brittany’s room just in time to see his mother embrace his father. Sitting by his sister’s feet, in his mother’s recently vacated spot, he turned his gaze to face his parents of sorts. “I feel as if a loop was just formed, and I am not in it.” Pouting slightly, to see if he’d get a reaction out of his family, he looked at his parents with wide eyes. Narrowing them at the piece of plastic that his mother held, Brad slowly asked, “Is that what I think it is…?” He paused, leaning backwards against the wall, and waited for a response from his parents or sister. Part of him already knew what it was, but the other part was kind of arguing with it. He really thanked the fact that Edward was nowhere near, and continued watching for some kind of reaction from his parents.

“My beginning was something else entirely.” Jasper opened his arms and enclosed them around her small form. He had a soft smile on his face that was truly rather forced. He glanced up as Brad made his way in and sat down at his sister’s feet. He glanced from face to face and looked down at Alice. “Yes, I gathered you got a positive from the happy feelings I could feel all the way in the kitchen…” Jasper whispered into Alice’s ear then brought his head back up to face the kids. His gaze fixed itself on Brad and he nodded slowly. He didn’t speak for a moment, just let his eyes wander down to the plastic test in Alice’s hand. He almost felt loathing toward it… And yet he didn’t. There was a very love/hate relationship with the stupid pregnancy test. Even if it wasn’t the thing’s fault Jasper still blamed it… And maybe now he was going truly insane, hating a piece of plastic. He kept smiling though.
“Er…I was supposed to tell you before Brad… Alice has been trying to get pregnant… Since the toxin effected out bodies… It would seem that you’re going to be a big brother.” Jasper told his son, keeping his voice neutral. It was strange… He could easily imagine a baby in Alice’s arms, giggling and reaching for it’s mother. He could see Brad babysitting, teasing the baby with a teddy bear. He could see Brittany cuddling the infant and cooing over it. Could he see his own child in his arms? No. He was going to be such a horrible father. But for the sake of his family he was going to put on a happy face and act as though this was the best thing to ever happen.

((Alice.. you god-modded me. O-O.)) THE DREAMER
"No, I haven't, mom." Brittz replied. She was busy writing another part of her novel again, and she was sort of in the zone that she hadn't really been paying attention to what was going on inside the house. She looked down again at her novel. Putting down the pen, Brittany smiled as her mother delivered the news. OH MY GOSH, that was brilliant news! Brittany was elated, and at the same time she was shocked. She was going to have another adoptive sibling aside from Brad! But she had no clue that her parents wanted or were even capable of having a child. Could vampires get pregnant? If Brittany remembered correctly, vampires couldn't really reproduce because their body fluids consisted only of the blood of the victims they consumed. Brittie's facial expression changed from a really excited one to a confused one. Was it just her or she really wasn't in the know of everything. How frustrating! She sighed, that's what she got for spending more time in her room writing than interacting with family. She needed to get out more, but she didn't really feel like being outdoorsy these past few weeks. Maybe it was time for a change. She focused on the face of her mother. "Oh, mom! That's great! Promise you'll discuss with me the name of the baby!" Soon after, Jasper came in, and Brittzy looked away a bit as they had another one of their romantic moments. She always felt the need to give her adoptive parents some sort of privacy by averting her gaze. She couldn't explain it.
Brad burst in, sitting by her feet. “I feel as if a loop was just formed, and I am not in it.” Brad remarked. "Aw Brad!" Brittzy exclaimed, reaching out towards him to give him a hug. His being the recent addition to the family sometimes made him feel left out.“Is that what I think it is…?” Brad asked. It was sort of a rhetorical question. Brittzy didn't really know how to answer, since she wasn't sure what this would mean to him. “Er…I was supposed to tell you before Brad… Alice has been trying to get pregnant… Since the toxin effected out bodies… It would seem that you’re going to be a big brother.” her father replied. Oh, so some toxin was affecting mom? Maybe that's what made it possible for them to have a bloodline. But did the toxins affect her and Brad too? Or just ALice, and Jasper? How about the others? These were questions that she'd ask later.
Brittzy was still beside her brother, her cold arms still wrapped around him to make him feel welcome. Unconsciously she projected images of possible future scenarios of the baby. It was her gift, or as others saw it, her power, to be able to make people see things. And after her decades of vampiric life, she still didn't have full control of it. Her family saw a picnic, the red and white checkered tablecloth on green grass. Alice holding the baby as she sat. Jasper looking lovingly on them as he sat beside Alice, his arms embracing them. She and Brad romping around in the background. It was so... human.

Alice entwined the fingers of her left hand with the fingers of Jasper's right hand. She left her right hand resting lightly on his chest as she turned slightly to face her children and still stay close to Jasper now. "Well, your father and I already discussed names when we first found out in my visions that we would be able to have kids finally. We decided on Angel Ésme Cullen if it's girl, and Casper Brandon Hale if it's a boy. Do you like them, Britt? I think they're both really cute," Alice smiled at her daughter. Alice saw both Jasper and Brad were staring at the pregnancy test in her hand in a very unhappy way. She had to talk to them about it now.
Now she going to tell what was on her mind right here and right now. "Brad, Jasper, please stop staring at the pregnancy test as if you want to murder it or something. It's getting on my nerves. As I said before, I want this to be as normal as a human pregnancy as possible. Please for me, stop looking so upset! Jasper, I need you to trust me. I need you to trust yourself. I need trust in us. You're going to make a great father, I just know it. You may not see it now, but you will. Just at Brad and Brittz, they'll tell you how great of a father you are. Right, you two?" Alice told her husband and her son exactly what she had on her mind and was annoyed about right now.
Alice sensed the question her daughter was going to ask her soon. "Brittany, I know you're going to ask about what your dad means by the toxin. Remember about a month ago when we had the family meeting and I told you about the visions I had about the humans trying to kill us? Remember the one week we all stayed home because I told you all that was when they were setting the toxins off? Remember getting that weird sick feeling? Those were the toxins. The humans were trying to turn us into as close to humans as possible. They used some special medicines that they use in hospitals to make people's organs start working when they have stopped working. That's how we can have kids now. We still won't age or be able to eat human foods, but we will be able to have kids and maybe even sleep," Alice tried to explain to Brittany. She hoped she had made her understand what was going on.

“My beginning was something else entirely.” Jasper felt a smile make it’s way to his face as Brittany’s exclamation. Of course everyone in the family would think that Alice and him having a baby was wonderful. Everyone except him… It wasn’t that he didn’t like children or that he didn’t love Alice enough for a family. He just… Didn’t like the baby idea, he didn’t think he would be a very good father to an infant. He’d never really had any practice in that kind of fathering, nor did he have the parental need Esme, Alice, Bella and Rosalie felt. His feeling aside though, he was going through this for Alice.
“I don’t want to murder the pregnancy test Alice…” He said softly, averting his eyes from the piece of plastic. He listened to Alice and felt guilty. He felt bad for thinking only of his own feelings, he was being selfish. Alice wanted this baby very bad and for that he should want it to. Even though he was still wary about the thought he smiled and gently kissed the top of her head before whispering “Alice I do trust you,”
He went silent as Alice explained the toxin to Brittany. He blamed the humans. The stupid creatures ruined everything. He’d been so happy before with Alice and Brad and Brittany. Why did they need to poison the vampires? It was all their fault he now had to deal with the impending doom that was clouding his horizon. The impending doom named either Angel or Casper… NO! He thought inwardly. He refused to think of the child that way. It was wrong and he hated himself for thinking it.

~I’m trying to forget that I’m addicted to you. Cause I want it and I need it, I’m addicted to you. Now it’s over, Can’t forget what you said And I never want to do this again, Heartbreaker. Brad grabbed onto Brittany’s arms, feeling the support all but drip out of her body. He grinned and then just started as his mother spoke. “I didn’t want to murder it, Mom,” he said gently, his eyes avoiding hers, “I was just trying to see if it was actually what I thought it was. DAD forgot to tell me,” he finished with a grin. He really was excited. Brittany was the best sibling he could have asked for, cause she just knew when to avoid him, and she knew what he was feeling before he really had to ask. Before he knew, actually. Huh. He momentarily wondered if she was psychic too, but grinned and dismissed the thought.
“I know we’ll have a great time with a kid! Can I baby sit it, Mom? PLEASE?” Brad asked; secretly planning on making sure that this child was brought up with the proper amount of humour in his life. The smile on his face was infectious. He didn’t stop to see if anyone else smiled, but he just looked over at his worried father. “Dad, you’re going to be a great dad. Look at how I turned out, for example.” He grinned, almost anticipating the answer he was going to get from his father. His thoughts swarmed around the names, and the grin grew wider… If it could, that is. He loved the idea of another kid, and wondered if Rosalie was going to get pregnant soon as well… He frowned just a bit as he imagined the havoc that Rose could cause... But the smile came back as he thought about the kid.
He turned his gaze up to face his sister, smiling at her and meeting her eyes, if only for a second. “Hear that Brittz? We’re going to have a baby around. We’re going to be big siblings,” he said. A wicked thought forced its way into his mind, and he grinned brighter. “Kid’ll love me more,” he teased, knowing that the kid would love them both. His golden eyes glowed with his joke, and he leaned back just a little against his sister, feeling their bond and hoping that the kid would quickly get into the bond as well. He looked at his father happily. “You excited?” he asked.
Suddenly, a thought entered his mind, and he asked it before he forgot it, “Mom, will the kid grow at the same rate Nessie did, or just a normal human rate?” Personally, to him, it was very important for him to know. He wanted to be prepared for a new kid.

{{In truth I'm actually confused about that toxin thing, since the family meeting thread wasn't done yet... The plot moves too fast...Next time, can we finish one plot idea before moving on to the next? Please? Oh, and no one had any reaction to Brittie's power of giving an image?...}} THE DREAMER Brittany smiled as the names were given, though she giggled at the name Casper. It reminded her of the character who was supposedly the 'friendly ghost'. "Aw mom, Casper???" she said, her voice incredulous. She wasn't too keen on having a younger bro named Casper. As Alice explained the thing about the toxins, about its effects and what that would implicate, Brittzy's eyes grew wide. Humans had finally found out about the existence of vampires, and even worse, they'd developed or maybe discovered a toxin that would make them human again?! This was a very unexpected issue. It was a good thing that Alice and Jasper and the rest of the coven were able to find out about it in time though, that it only did minimal damage. But still, the fact that humans were already able to penetrate into their lives and spread the toxin... it was scary. Vampires had superspeed, superstrength, and then there were those with even more special powers, like Brittany's imagery thing. The fact that they hadn't been able to prevent anything made Brittzy want to research more about this new toxin, and also to note down plans for any hasty escape in the future. Probably buy a safe house and some means of transportation. She did not want the family to get hurt. Though maybe the toxin was a good thing, despite the uncertainties of the side-effects. It made her mom happy, to be able to even get pregnant. Brittany hoped that the baby would ocme out all right. Her father Jasper seemed to be having another internal battle, and Brittzy both admired and felt sorry for her father. He sacrificed so much for Alice, expecting nothing much in return. Love had given him a life. Brad reassured their father about his capabilities, and then also teased both her and dad. Brittany just snuggled with him. He was such a goofball, but he was also like Alice, bringing energy into the room whenever he entered. Brittany was content to listen for now. She accepted that she did not know fully the situation, and she was therefore not eligible to reply to any inquiries about the future. The feelings inside here were a mixture... confusion, dread, doubt, happiness, guilt, pity... The sudden rush of emotions she kept inside, though maybe her dad would feel what she was feeling. A new baby. Baby. And one that was linked by blood to Jasper and Alice. Was this what the family needed? Maybe this was the oppurtunity for Jasper to be able to become like his old self again, without the depression and fear that war and his earlier vampire years had molded into his being. Brittany let go of her brother and went to her bed. She lay on her stomach, her elbows propping up her head as she waited for even more explanations and insights. [/size]

"We'll let you two babysit if someone else is home with you. I don't want to come home to find the house in ruins. I'm not sure about the baby loving you more, hon. The baby will love you all equally," Alice said, letting out a tinkling laugh.
"No, the baby won't grow as fast as Renésmee, but it will grow a tad faster than a human baby. About 1¼ inches to 1½ inches a week, while a human baby will grow 1 inch per week. So I'll probably be due in 30 to 35 weeks, technically. Though I'm not 100% sure yet. I have to run a few things by Carlisle first. I'll probably have the baby at home since it will be awkward to have it in the hospital. I just hope your father can stand all the blood," Alice said, smiling softly at the kids now.
"See, Jazz, I told you they would tell you that you're a great father. Though I think Brad gets his sense of humor from Emmett. Britt, I know you're going to love being a sister. Your gift shows that. The four of us are really gifted. I only wonder if the baby will have a gift and what their gift will be. So what do you think, you two, a brother or a sister?" Alice asked leaning against Jasper. One arm was wrapped around his waist, her right hand was intertwined with his left hand.

“My beginning was something else entirely.” Jasper remained silent for most of what the rest of his family said. He simply stood there, holding his wife’s hand gently. He listened of course, but made no comments. Brad and Brittany seemed thrilled about the whole baby thing. He mentally reviewed a quote Brad had spoken earlier, “I feel as if a loop was just formed, and I am not in it.”. It fit perfectly for Jasper’s feelings at the moment. Everyone was so happy. He kept a smile on his face though, rubbing his thumb against Alice’s hand.
The words Alice said were new. He hadn’t heard that information yet. So the child would grow a bit faster? That was a good thing… As for the blood Jasper was sure he’d be fine. After all, it wasn’t as though it was human blood he had to worry about. At the mention of a gift Jasper nearly growled. He hadn’t thought about that yet… A gift? The last thing he needed was a baby that had a gift like Jane’s or something. Despite the thoughts he continued smiling, waiting for Brad and Brittany to speak.
As for gender he wasn’t picky. The thought of a little Alice was appealing but so was the thought of a little Jasper. A small little blonde boy or a tiny dark haired girl. Then there was also another child that always poked it’s head in, a little blonde girl with curly hair. All were adorable in his mind but still… He didn’t see them as his child. Just the child.

~ Baby’s got blue eyes, and she wanting to stay, But I am running out of time with nothing to say… Brad sighed. Someone had to be home with him while babysitting? Damn – that threw all fun out the window! Unless it was Emmett… Then they could make sure that the kid had a great sense of humour… Brittz would probably help with that as well. Brad felt his sister left go of him, and he saw that she was now laying down. He gently leaned back on her, resting his head against the wall as he thought about the baby. What did they do? He recalled something that he had heard before.
They cry when they’re hungry, and they cry when they’re full.
Basically, they whine when their mothers leave, they just freak out in general. For some odd reason, Brad imagined shoving a sock in the baby’s mouth, then laughed softly. Brad nodded when his mother said that the baby would grow faster than a normal baby. He had been worried that they’d have the kid growing like a normal human and he had read that it was somewhat horrible for the parents. Luckily for the Cullen’s, they had endless time… Unless the toxin took that away too.
He frowned, a line forming in his forehead. The toxin was good for some things, like the whole baby thing, but for everything else it seemed as if the toxin was kind of ruining their lives. He shook his head to clear it, and looked over at his father. Though the smile was apparent on his face, the look of pain in his eyes was not hidden very well. He attempted to re-arrange his emotions and tried to send a relieved mood into the room to see if his father would be happier. “I don’t really care what gender the baby is, Mom. No matter what, I’ll love it just the same,” Brad said smiling gently at his mother. “Besides, I’m sure that you guys will know before we do,” he teased, laughing a booming laugh and grinning at his parents with a look of happiness.
As for whether he wanted a little brother or sister, he really wasn’t sure. Sisters would be cool, but no one could be better than Brittz in his mind. Brothers would be fun too. He could teach them all sorts of things, but he wasn’t sure if he’d really like a brother or sister. He kept grinning, and sending a wave of relief into the room for his father.

THE DREAMER
Brittany smiled. She agreed with her brother, gender wasn't important. It was the chance and possibility of a new addition to their family. Even if she and Brad were not like this child, not biological children, she knew that they still shared a special bond. After all, Alice and Jasper could have left Brittany alone, right? There were lots of vampires who turned and attacked humans, but still, Alice and Jasper had chosen to help her through the transformation. They were her life now, and she felt cherished. They were a big family, with her aunts, uncles, and cousins making a very large bunch. "I don't really care what gender the baby is, mom. You would probably look into the future to know if it's a boy or girl." Brittz giggled. If there was anything she knew about her mother, it was that she was just bursting with excitement and love, especially for this baby. If Brittany had the power of looking into the future, she would so use it to her advantage. Hopefully though, everything would turn out all right, and the baby would not be what would be called 'different'. What was different anyways? There was a finely drawn line between what was considered normal and different. Both of the terms were relative. Especially since they were vampires, already 'different' from humans. Maybe things would work out for the best, though at the back of her mind would always be a little shadow of doubt for the future sibling.
She knew how Jasper was feeling. It was different for him, and she knew how it was for first time fathers and especially since this was like a surprise for all of them, even more so for Jasper. It was going to be their first true bloodline child, something not even considered possible for creatures in their world. She went to her father, hugging him from behind, and pecking him on the cheek. "We'll be a great family." she whispered softly, knowing everyone could hear her words of quiet reassurance and hope in her reflective moment. After a moment of silence, she immediately perked up. They should all be so happy, not focusing for now on the fact that it was the toxins that had made Alice able to bear a child. "Angel Esme. It has a nice ring to it." she said with a soft smile. "Aw, but mom, can we name him something other than Casper? It reminds me of something else.... How about Jackson? Even Brandon sounds better." she said happily, grinning at her mother and making her eyes like a puppy-dog's.
((I think Casper was from Jasper, right?))
